EACH
SITE DIRECTOR and THE UNC CLERKSHIP DIRECTOR RESERVE THE RIGHT TO

ARE NOT SIMPLY NUMERIC. THIS IS TO ASSURE THE BEST CONSISTENCY
POSSIBLE.

(The
boxes on the evals are worth 0-4 points, moving left to right
at .5 intervals.)
While
on the Pediatrics Clerkship, attendings, residents (see "Resident
Expectations of Medical Students"), and community preceptors
use the evaluations linked above to grade you clinically.
In addition to the clinical evaluations, other graded pieces include
write-ups, a site specific participation piece (see below for site
variations), a departmental exam, and
the NBME Pediatrics Shelf Exam. The final grade is broken
down as follows:
Clinical
Grade = 55%

95-99
percentile = 4.0
85-94

00-09
percentile = 1.0 = A
shelf test score of less than the 10th percentile will result
in a Condition grade. Students who earn less than the
10th percentile on the shelf test but a passing grade overall must
retake the shelf test only.
Percentile
scores reflect the performance of 13,691 students from US and
Canadian LCME-accredited medical schools who took the Pediatrics
Subject Test as a final clerkship exam for the first time during
the 2004-2005 academic year.
All
grade components (converted to a 4.0 scale) are entered into the
excel sheet linked here.
The Final Grade scale is:

3.5 = HONORS
3.0-3.49
= HIGH PASS
2.0-2.99
= PASS
1.5-1.99

<
1.5 = FAIL
